TEHRAN -- Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Hossein Saffar Harandi visited the Iranian women potter's exhibit, which is underway at the Niavaran Cultural Center, on September 9.

During his visit Saffar Harandi said, “Pottery is one of the most natural forms of artwork undertaken by humankind. It is an art form which has been practiced in people’s every-day life since the earliest times.”
He went on to say that pottery is the cultural heritage of ancient Iran and earthenware artworks should be used in contemporary houses and cities both for practical and aesthetic purposes.
He added that the women artists’ innovative works displayed in the exhibit had made visitors reconsider the role of pottery in today’s life and its function not only as a decorative art form but also its practical value.
Cosponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Tehran’s Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization, the event will run until September 18. Several workshops have also been organized on the side lines of the exhibition
